Africa-Press – Uganda. Buganda Kingdom Minister for Social Services (Education, Health) and the Office of the Nnaabagereka, Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko, has called upon teachers in kingdom-founded schools to strengthen their professional competence in order to raise academic standards.
Speaking at the Kingdom’s administrative headquarters in Bulange, Mengo on Wednesday during the presentation of performance reports from Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and Senior Four (S.4) candidates in Buganda Kingdom schools.
School administrators presented detailed reports outlining how their respective institutions performed and the strategies implemented during the academic year.
Among the head teachers and school leaders who presented reports were Christopher Kalyesuubula of Lubiri Nnabagereka Primary School, Immaculate Nampijja of Lubiri High School Mengo Campus, Charles Ssebina of Lubiri High School Buloba Campus, and Steven Ssekasamba of Bowa Vocational Secondary School. Each administrator highlighted their school’s examination outcomes and provided insights into both achievements and areas requiring improvement.
In her address, Kikomeko emphasized that a teacher’s competence plays a critical role in shaping a learner’s academic success.
She encouraged educators to pursue further training and continuous professional development in order to enhance the quality of instruction delivered in classrooms.
“The professional capability of a teacher greatly determines a child’s academic progress. I urge all teachers to return to further studies and continuously upgrade their skills in education,” she said.
Kikomeko reiterated the kingdom’s commitment to supporting its educational institutions and ensuring that schools under its administration maintain high standards of performance. She noted that improving teacher expertise is central to achieving sustainable academic excellence across all Buganda Kingdom schools.
