Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda Development Bank (UDB) has announced the appointment of Peter Mukuru as Director, Business Technology, and a Member of the Executive Committee, strengthening the Bank’s leadership as it accelerates its digital transformation agenda.
Mukuru joins UDB from the African Development Bank, bringing over two decades of executive leadership experience in digital transformation across development finance, regulation, government, utilities and the private sector.
At UDB, he will lead the Bank’s digital transformation agenda and oversee the strategic alignment of technology with UDB’s development mandate.
A seasoned business technology practitioner and digital transformation leader with more than 20 years of experience, Mukuru’s expertise lies in leveraging technology to drive institutional efficiency, strengthen governance frameworks, enhance service delivery and support sustainable growth.
Prior to joining UDB, he served as IT Project Manager at the African Development Bank, where he led large-scale, multi-national digital transformation initiatives at both enterprise and continental levels.
His work focused on the modernisation of financial systems, digital workplace transformation, enterprise service management and the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance operational resilience and performance.
Mukuru has previously held senior leadership roles at the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the Uganda Communications Commission, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation and TraceCorp Solutions.
Across these institutions, he delivered enterprise-wide technology programmes including ERP modernization, data and analytics transformation, cybersecurity enhancement, digital payments systems and business continuity management.
Beyond executive management, Mukuru brings significant corporate governance experience, having served as a non-executive director in fintech, health services and professional governance institutions.
He possesses deep expertise in digital governance, enterprise architecture, risk optimisation and cybersecurity, and brings a strong board-level perspective to technology-enabled strategy and decision-making.
He holds a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Information Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Statistics.
He is professionally certified in Information Security (CISM), Risk Management (CRISC), Project Management (PMP), Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF) and Service Management (ITIL v4).
He has also undertaken advanced training in AI strategy and governance, digital economy, digital payment systems and innovation management.
Mukuru is actively engaged in community service and leadership development through Rotary International, where he has held several District and Club leadership roles in Uganda.
