Africa-Press – Uganda. Deputy IGG Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe has urged students to prioritise integrity over academic grades, warning that success built on dishonesty undermines future leadership and national development.
Deputy Inspector General of Government Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe has cautioned students against pursuing academic success without integrity, stressing that character and honesty remain the true measure of long-term success.
Speaking at the launch of an Integrity Ambassadors’ Club at Kibuli Secondary School, Muhairwe said academic grades alone are not enough if they are not matched with strong moral values.
She warned that students who pursue “brilliant scores with broken values” risk compromising their future and losing moral credibility in society.
Muhairwe said the initiative, spearheaded by the Inspectorate of Government, is aimed at nurturing ethical young people who can serve as integrity ambassadors within schools and later in professional life.
She emphasized that integrity is demonstrated through consistent honesty, resisting temptation, and doing what is right even when no one is watching.
“Honest students become ethical professionals, fair leaders, and incorruptible public servants,” she noted, adding that a culture of integrity is essential for proper use of public resources such as schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.
Muhairwe further said that strengthening ethical values among young people would contribute to national development, economic growth, and improved public service delivery.
She encouraged students to actively participate in the Integrity Ambassadors’ Club, describing it as a platform for leadership development, mentorship, and value formation.
Kibuli Secondary School Integrity Ambassadors’ Club president Ali Ndaula welcomed the initiative, saying it aligns with the school’s commitment to nurturing disciplined and responsible learners.
He said the club will help reinforce efforts to build a generation of students committed to fighting corruption and upholding integrity.
