Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has dismissed as false, baseless, and malicious allegations circulating online that its Executive Director, Dr. Chris Mukiza, was involved in a confrontation with Rubanda West Member of Parliament Moses Kamuntu at a hotel in Kololo.

In a statement issued Sunday, UBOs said the claims are concocted and intended “to tarnish the reputation of Dr. Chris Mukiza and the image of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics.”

UBOS said there has not been any such incident recorded anywhere in Kampala by police.

“The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire is on record that there is no such alleged confrontation incident reported in any police station,” UBOS said.

Addressing specific claims, UBOS said reports alleging that Dr. Mukiza was driving under the influence or attempted to draw a firearm were unfounded.

“Dr. Mukiza does not drive official government vehicles and is always accompanied by authorized driver and trained security personnel,” the statement noted, adding that “these claims are a direct attack on his moral and professional integrity.”

UBOS described Dr.Mukiza as one who “has consistently demonstrated professionalism and sound leadership in the execution of his duties.”

The government statistics body urged the public to treat the allegations with caution, warning against the spread of misinformation.

“We call upon the public to refrain from sharing unverified information that can damage reputations and mislead the public.”
