Africa-Press – Uganda. Khalid Aucho has been installed as captain of the Uganda Cranes for the upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda after striker Emmanuel Okwi was dropped.
“Denis Iguma will deputise him as Taddeo Lwanga, Timothy Awany and other senior players will wait in the same line but I expect all my players to behave as leaders during those two matches and going forward,” Micho told KFM Sports on Saturday.
Aucho, 28, joined Tanzanian giants Yanga this year and has made a good start to life in the southern neighbouring nation. Micho will expect him to help KCCA’s Geoffrey Wasswa fit in having knocked on the door for some time.
The 25-year-old, who left Vipers this year, has suffered a spate of knee injuries that slowed down his development.
He is now relishing the chance of playing alongside his bossom buddy Halid Lwaliwa.
“We are ready to give everything and compete. We want to put everything that has been instructed to us by the coaches into play,” Wasswa said.
“Rwanda has players who we know well. It is not an advantage but it’s upon us to put up a good show and try to win.”
