Africa-Press – Uganda. Mondo Elderly Care Hospice looks after children and the elderly. Anish Shekar is a social entrepreneur who has gone that extra mile to ensure improvements in the lives of elderly people and children in Uganda.
In 2020, he co-founded the Mondo Elderly Care Hospice, and through this initiative his determination to fight neurodegenerative diseases has changed more than 1,000 lives of elderly people.
The Mondo Elderly Care Center offers basic therapy and first-aid services that help in the treatment of conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
With a staff force of 10 social workers and caregivers, it has a home caring environment where every senior is taken care of individually, and their quality of life is improved to a large degree.
Alongside the work with Irene Mondo, Anish founded Mondo Charity, which became a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable populations in Uganda.
By organizing innovative fundraising-from partnerships with local organizations, churches, and private donors to online campaigns-Mondo Charity has been able to raise over $10,000 in support of literacy programs for children and assistance for elderly individuals struggling with neurodegenerative diseases.
This impact cuts across all 135 districts of Uganda, reaching approximately 5,000 children and the elderly who have access to basic services like education, health, and therapy.
Anish pegs his philosophy on making sure nobody, irrespective of age or condition, gets left behind.
He has developed a model through Mondo Charity and Mondo Elderly Care Centre which is replicable and effective in addressing issues of illiteracy and inadequate elderly care in Uganda.
He continues to inspire an increasingly broad network of committed donors, volunteers, and organizations creating long-term change for and with those who need it most.
