Africa-Press – Uganda. In a case that has captured widespread public attention, self-proclaimed doctor Ssemanda, who stands accused of practicing without proper qualifications, is set to appear before Buganda Road Court on February 14, 2025.
The court proceedings mark a critical phase in the trial, as witness testimonies begin.
Ssemanda has been in detention since November 2024, facing allegations of defrauding patients and posing a serious risk to public health.
Prosecutors plan to present evidence detailing how he accessed the credentials of the real Dr. Ssemanda to offer unauthorised treatments, misleading patients in the process.
“This hearing is critical in establishing the full extent of the harm caused by Dr. Ssemanda’s fraudulent activities,” said Ssemanda Innocent, the lead witness, stressing the need to protect public trust in the healthcare system.
As the trial progresses, local communities and healthcare advocates are closely following the case, which highlights the urgent need for stronger regulatory oversight in Uganda’s medical sector.
