Salam Charity Uganda Donates Shs15M to Boost Education and Islamic Infrastructure in Ntungamo and Iganga

Africa-Press – Uganda. In a continued effort to support community development across the country, Salam Charity Uganda has donated a total of UGX 15 million to two institutions focused on education and Islamic values. Rwensinga Primary School in Ntungamo received UGX 10 million, while Albayaan Quran Memorisation Centre in Iganga received UGX 5 million to support their ongoing construction projects.

Speaking during the handover, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, Managing Director of Salam Charity and Salam TV, emphasized that while their flagship focus remains on Katakwi Muslims, the organization is committed to reaching beyond that. “Our flagship project focuses on developing Katakwi Muslims, but we continue supporting other initiatives, like Rwensinga Primary School in Ntungamo and Albayaan Quran Memorisation Centre in Iganga,” he stated.

The donation to Rwensinga Primary School follows a successful fundraising campaign led by the school’s Old Boys and Girls Association (OBs and OGs), aimed at improving the school’s infrastructure, particularly the construction of permanent classroom blocks.

Ms. Grace Ninsiima, the school’s Head Teacher, expressed her gratitude: “We are truly thankful to Salam Charity for recognizing our campaign and stepping in to support us. The funds will go a long way in helping us complete new classroom blocks and improve the learning environment for our pupils.”

The school’s development coordinator, Mr Emmanuel Mwesigwa, also acknowledged the significance of the gesture. “This support reinforces the value of alumni involvement and community partnerships in transforming our education system,” he said.

Meanwhile, at Albayaan Quran Memorisation Centre in Iganga, the UGX 5 million contribution is set to accelerate the construction of a new learning wing dedicated to housing Quran students.

Sheikh Uthman Ngoobi, the centre’s proprietor, welcomed the support, adding, “This donation will allow us to fast-track our plans to create a conducive space for young Muslims to learn and memorize the Quran. We look forward to deeper collaboration with Salam Charity on both education and humanitarian fronts.”

The charity’s efforts have earned praise from senior Muslim leaders, including Imam Kajiko, the Regional Qadhi of Ankole-Kigezi, who represented the Mufti of Uganda at the Ntungamo handover. He commended Salam Charity for its continued investment in both spiritual and educational development and called on the organization to lend its expertise toward shaping the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council’s 10-year strategic vision.

Salam Charity Uganda’s recent donations reflect its broader mission of empowering communities through sustainable support. With a growing footprint beyond its flagship initiatives, the charity continues to position itself as a key partner in education and Islamic development nationwide.
