Africa-Press – Uganda. The political and technical leaders in Kikuube District held a preparatory meeting this evening to streamline activities ahead of President Museveni’s visit and the thanksgiving ceremony organised by the State Minister for Public Service, Mary Mugasa.
The meeting, held at Kikuube District headquarters, discussed expectations of the leaders, their conduct, and laid down guidelines to follow during the presidential visit.
Mugasa used the meeting to implore leaders to do their work faithfully and diligently, urging continued support for President Museveni’s leadership and the NRM government, while discouraging association with those advocating for change.
“I want to urge you all leaders to support the President and all government programmes, and be cautious about those who are advocating for change because they may end up taking our country backwards in the name of change,” Mugasa said.
During the meeting, the RDC of Kikuube, Amlan Tumusiime, emphasised the importance of unity and proper planning to ensure the event reflects the district’s hospitality and organisational capacity.
“We must work together to make this thanksgiving a success and showcase the district’s pride and support for both the President and Mary Mugasa,” Tumusiime said.
The minister has also organised football mini-tournaments, a health camp, clean energy sensitisation, and other activities as a buildup and to create awareness for the event.
Recently, thanksgiving events were criticised by several opposition politicians, raising concerns about their true purpose, while others defended them on the basis of exercising constitutional rights.
