Africa-Press – Uganda. Speaker of Parliament Anita Among met with Muslim leaders at the Bugembe Islamic Institute in Jinja on Wednesday to discuss key issues affecting their communities and explore ways the government can collaborate with religious leaders to uplift and empower the people.

According to sources close to the meeting, Speaker Among commended Muslim leaders for promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among communities, even amidst differing political ideologies.

Her engagement is seen as a step towards reconciliation in a period of heightened tensions in parts of the country.

“Earlier today, I met with Muslim leaders from Bugembe at the Bugembe Islamic Institute,” Speaker Among said. “The purpose of our meeting was to discuss key issues affecting their communities and to explore how the government can collaborate with religious leaders to uplift and empower the people.”

This engagement is part of Speaker Among’s broader initiative to foster development, stability, and unity across Uganda.

Her efforts to build bridges between communities are viewed as pivotal in promoting peace and prosperity in the country.
