Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Kampala Queens were on Tuesday crowned as 2024\/25 Finance Trust Bank Fufa Women Super League (FTBFWSL) champions for the second time in their history.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Queens of Soccer, who were formed when Fufa president Moses Magogo acquired Ghadaffi Integrated Academy ahead of the 2016\/17 topflight season, first won the title in the 2022\/23 season.<\/p>\n

They lost it to record topflight champions Kawempe Muslim last season and have won it again with performances that outclassed the rest of the 11 teams in the FTBFWSL.<\/p>\n

In 22 games, KQ who were partly guided by Charles Ayiekoh before Ethiopian Firew Asefa Hailegebreal took over midway the first round, have won 14 games, drew in seven, and lost once thereby accumulating 49 points – four more than Kawempe, who finished second.<\/p>\n

They scored 35 goals and conceded just seven times en route to becoming Uganda’s representatives at the Cecafa Zone Caf Women’s Champions League qualifiers that are due later in the year.<\/p>\n

Shamirah Nalugya has scored most of their goals – nine to be precise, including a penalty in their 1-1 draw with She Maroons before their crowning on Tuesday, and was named most valuable player (MVP) of the season.<\/p>\n

Nalugya edged Zainah Nandede, Fufa’s female player of 2024, who scored eight goals but started as right back on Tuesday as KQ failed to win in a fourth consecutive game. Goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro with 15 clean sheets could also have had a claim to the MVP gong.<\/p>\n

The result and recent form did not matter in the end as KQ got their party on.<\/p>\n

Their former player Lukia Namubiru delivered the trophy, one newly designed and unveiled by Fufa, before it was handed over by Fufa’s third deputy president Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi and Finance Trust Bank officials.<\/p>\n
