Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Uganda\u2019s coffee industry received a major boost on the second day of the World of Coffee 2025 exhibition after signing a framework partnership with Sucafina, one of Europe\u2019s largest coffee trading firms.<\/b><\/p>\n

The deal signals growing international confidence in Uganda\u2019s premium Arabica beans and cements its rising profile as a specialty coffee exporter.<\/p>\n

The agreement, unveiled at Uganda\u2019s vibrant pavilion in Geneva, includes commitments to scale up green bean shipments and expand joint marketing efforts across Europe.<\/p>\n

It comes amid record performance by Uganda\u2019s coffee sector, which exported 7.17 million bags worth $1.97 billion in the past year.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Uganda\u2019s State Minister for Agriculture Fred Kyakulaga praised the partnership as a milestone in redefining East Africa\u2019s coffee narrative.<\/p>\n

\u201cUganda is riding high on the World of Coffee stage with explosive export growth, top-of-the-line quality, and market-savvy partnerships,\u201d Kyakulaga said.<\/p>\n

At the cupping sessions hosted at the Uganda Pavilion, European buyers praised Uganda\u2019s high-altitude Arabica for its vibrant acidity and clean finish.<\/p>\n

The positive reception has translated into solid commercial interest, with some companies requesting Uganda to supply up to 300 shipping containers of green beans annually\u2014especially from Swiss and other European roasters.<\/p>\n

Sucafina, headquartered in Switzerland, is known for sourcing and distributing coffee to major roasters across Europe, making the deal a strategic gateway for Uganda to consolidate its presence in the continent\u2019s competitive specialty coffee market.<\/p>\n

Coffee exporters at the event echoed calls for Uganda to maintain quality and consistency to meet the growing demand.<\/p>\n

Buyers also encouraged Ugandan producers to invest further in traceability and branding to capitalize on premium pricing in European markets.<\/p>\n

The partnership with Sucafina is one of several business leads emerging from Uganda\u2019s participation at the World of Coffee 2025, and it underscores the country\u2019s commitment to value-added trade and strategic global alliances.<\/p>\n
