Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>The race for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) parliamentary flag bearers in Kayunga District has intensified, with preliminary results indicating strong leads for Finance Minister Amos Lugolobi and Jackline Birungi Kobusingye, daughter of influential NRM mobilizer Moses Kalangwa Kalangwa.<\/b><\/p>\n

In Ntenjeru North, Minister Lugolobi is leading his challenger Benjamin Lubwaama, despite ongoing disputes over alleged irregularities.<\/p>\n

Lubwaama and his supporters claim the process was marred by voter intimidation and manipulation.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the race for Kayunga District Woman MP, Jackline Birungi Kobusingye is ahead of Agather Nalubwama, the current cardholder, who has openly accused Kayunga NRM Chairperson Moses Kaliisa Kalangwa of influencing the outcome by \u201cpouring money\u201d to buy votes.<\/p>\n

Nalubwama has called upon NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Tanga Odoi to investigate the alleged irregularities exhibited by Kalangwa, warning that such actions could significantly split the party in Kayunga District.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a win by the people. It\u2019s a win through money and manipulation,\u201d Nalubwama told reporters, vowing to contest the results.<\/p>\n

Birungi, on the other hand, thanked voters for refusing to be misled by lies, and expressed confidence in the people\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n

Birungi stressed that the support she has received shows that the people of Kayunga are appreciating the good work by the NRM Kayunga district.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Bbale County, tensions flared at Nakyessa Primary School, where the contest between former MP Wilson Kumama Nsamba and Arthur Kiiza faced delays due to crowd control issues.<\/p>\n

Kiiza criticized security personnel for allowing unregistered individuals to vote.<\/p>\n

In Ntenjeru South, former MP Fred Baseke is reportedly leading by a wide margin against his three contenders Simon Sonko, Ronald Serumaga, and Livingstone Kateregga.<\/p>\n

Despite the controversies, Sezibwa Region Police Spokesperson Hellena Butoto described the voting process as \u201cgenerally peaceful,\u201d although two individuals were arrested for attempting to impersonate voters.<\/p>\n

The NRM Kayunga Electoral Commission has yet to release the final certified results.<\/p>\n
