John Ssebaana Kizito \u2014 an insurance trailblazer, businessman, and politician.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Themed \u201cEmbracing Insurance for Sustainable Development,\u201d this year\u2019s lecture highlighted the critical role of insurance in driving resilience and economic growth. The Chief Guest, Dr. Alhaj Ibrahim Kaddunabbi Lubega, CEO of the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda, paid tribute to the late Ssebaana\u2019s pioneering role in establishing Uganda\u2019s first private insurance company.<\/p>\n<p>He also underscored the growing importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting within the industry and reaffirmed the regulator\u2019s commitment to supporting insurance players in aligning with global standards.<\/p>\n<p>A panel discussion featuring Jennifer Mirembe Ssensuwa (CEO, Weerinde Insurance Brokerage Services Ltd), Zaake Ronald (Managing Director, A-Plus Funeral Services), John Makosya (Chief Operations and Impact Officer, GRO Consortium (U) Ltd), and Joseph Kiyimba (Managing Director, Ambiance Group) explored the importance of insurance, the diversity of insurance products, and the opportunities presented by agro-insurance in strengthening livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p>SWICO reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the vision of its co-founder by fostering innovation, deepening trust, and promoting sustainable insurance solutions for Uganda and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>About SWICO<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1982, Statewide Insurance Company (SWICO) is Uganda\u2019s first privately-owned insurance company.
