Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>In a resounding show of solidarity with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), the National Youth Council (NYC) has officially launched a nationwide voter mobilisation campaign, placing a strong emphasis on rallying young people behind President Yoweri Museveni’s re-election bid for the 2026 presidential elections.<\/b><\/p>\n

The initiative was unveiled during NYC’s ongoing National Executive Meeting in Entebbe ,where key leaders including Chairperson Daniel Ongom, Secretary for Student Affairs Jonathan Tayebwa, and Isingiro District Secretary for Female Affairs Denise among other leaders unanimously resolved to fan out across Uganda’s over 135 districts.<\/p>\n

Their mission is to traverse urban centers, rural villages, and educational institutions, soliciting unwavering support from the country’s vibrant youth demographic, which constitutes over 78% of Uganda’s population under the age of 35.<\/p>\n

“This is a clarion call to action for every young Ugandan,” declared Chairperson Daniel Ongom, underscoring the NYC’s pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future.<\/p>\n

“We are committing to a door-to-door, community-by-community traversal of this beautiful country. Our focus is laser-sharp on the youth empowering them to vote, and championing the transformative vision of President Museveni and the NRM. Under his leadership, we’ve seen peace restored, infrastructure boom, and opportunities in education and skilling multiply. It’s time for the youth to repay that investment with their ballots in 2026.”<\/p>\n

The campaign aligns seamlessly with broader NRM strategies, echoing recent endorsements from party affiliates and youth groups nationwide.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Tayebwa, the NYC’s Secretary for Student Affairs, highlighted the campaign’s emphasis on campuses and learning institutions, where disillusionment can sometimes take root.<\/p>\n

“We re-affirm that mobilisation starts with us, we are the heartbeat of our nation, and we’re hitting every corridor of this country,” Tayebwa said.<\/p>\n

“We’ll educate them on the gains of the NRM era\u2014from the Parish Development Model that lifts families out of poverty to digital innovations creating jobs in ICT and agribusiness. President Museveni has invested in our dreams; now, we’ll ensure his vision endures by turning out the youth vote in record numbers.”<\/p>\n

Denise Ayebare , the Secretary for Female Affairs in Isingiro District, emphasised inclusivity and gender empowerment as cornerstones of the drive.<\/p>\n

“Our girls and young women must lead this charge because they have been empowered by this government,” she asserted.<\/p>\n

“From Isingiro to the remotest corners of Karamoja, we’ll traverse hand-in-hand, breaking barriers and building coalitions. President Museveni’s policies on women’s economic empowerment\u2014through programs like Emyooga and UWEP\u2014have empowered millions. We’re not just mobilising; we’re igniting a movement where every young woman sees her stake in 2026.”<\/p>\n

The NYC’s resolution comes amid heightened political activity, following President Museveni’s formal endorsement as the NRM’s flag bearer in July 2025.<\/p>\n
