The Orthodox Christians who congregate at St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, Namungoona, did not have Christmas prayers.<\/b><\/p>\n

Their Cathedral was locked up during the week on the orders of the Metropolitan Archbishop, His Eminence Jonah Lwanga.<\/p>\n

The Prelate’s order to close the Cathedral followed the death from Covid-19 of Fr Emmanuel Ssekyewa (71), who performed roles at the church.According to the parish priest, Rev Fr Nicholas Bayego, the cathedral will be opened in the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n

After the closure of the cathedral, the Christians were advised to pray from other churches, or in their homes.The Cathedral on Christmas Day was fully locked-up. The cathedral’s compound was also silently vacant, without any sign of activity.<\/p>\n

St Sophia Orthodox Church, Kibuye, where the deceased ministered as the curate, was also closed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
