Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>The St Mary\u2019s College Kisubi Old Boys Association (SMACKOBA) has announced that the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, will be honoured with the Distinguished Alumni Achiever Award at this year\u2019s annual awards dinner.<\/b><\/p>\n

The award recognises alumni who have excelled in their careers and made significant contributions to national development.<\/p>\n

According to SMACKOBA President, Nyamutale Roy Baguma, Muhoozi was selected for the award in recognition of his exemplary leadership as CDF and his longstanding support to both the Association and St Mary\u2019s College Kisubi, his alma mater.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeneral Kainerugaba reflects the values of St Mary\u2019s College Kisubi not only through his professional accomplishments but also through his continued engagement with the Old Boys community,\u201d Baguma said.<\/p>\n

He further noted that the Association celebrates alumni who have made meaningful contributions to society, adding that Muhoozi has distinguished himself through national service while maintaining active involvement in SMACKOBA activities.<\/p>\n

SMACKOBA, which promotes networking, career growth, and community service among its members, also supports the development of the college. In line with this mission, the Association confirmed that Muhoozi contributed Shs 20 million toward the organisation of the awards dinner\u2014a gesture described as consistent with his commitment to giving back.<\/p>\n

Part of the proceeds from the dinner will go toward an eye medical camp in Northern Uganda, scheduled for February 2026, as part of SMACKOBA\u2019s wider community service initiatives.<\/p>\n

Treasurer Anthony Kibirige and Deputy Secretary General, Colonel Dr John Lusiba, attended the briefing, which also highlighted Muhoozi\u2019s support to the Brothers of Christian Instruction, the founders and managers of the school since 1906. Despite limited resources, the Brothers have shaped generations of students, and the CDF has been among those who have stepped in to assist.<\/p>\n

Colonel Chris Magezi, who delivered General Kainerugaba\u2019s contribution, praised the CDF\u2019s enduring commitment to the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite his busy schedule, he always finds time to respond to SMACKOBA\u2019s concerns. His consistent support speaks for itself,\u201d Col Magezi said.<\/p>\n

He also commended the dedication of the Old Boys Association, noting that their unity and sense of responsibility position the school for continued excellence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese schools made us and nurtured us. When we grow and succeed in life, the hope is that we give back,\u201d Magezi said.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s awards dinner promises to celebrate excellence, inspire younger alumni, and strengthen the tradition of giving back that has shaped the St Mary\u2019s College Kisubi community for more than a century.<\/p>\n
