Africa-Press<\/a> – Uganda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Gen Edward Katumba Wamala\u2019s bodyguard, Sgt Khalid Koboyoit, survived unhurt after gunmen on Tuesday sprayed with bullets the car of the former Works and Transport minister, killing his daughter and driver.<\/p>\n

Several people are scratching their heads for answers to understand how the bodyguard survived being shot by assassins and came off the hail of bullets unscathed.<\/p>\n

Some witnesses at the scene of crime say when the bodyguard heard the first burst of bullets that disabled the movement of the vehicle, he flipped back his seat, shielding Gen Katumba Wamala behind as he pressed him down.<\/p>\n

A witness said with the second bursts of fire from the assailants, the bodyguard released the right side door as the gunmen rained more bullets on the car.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opening of the door by the bodyguard could have created fear among the assailants and they possibly thought someone was opening to respond and scrambled away from the scene, leaving the bodyguard to fire in the air and later release one bullet that hit one of the gunmen in the leg,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

But the bodyguards of former police spokesperson and Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi weren\u2019t that lucky.<\/p>\n

Kaweesi and his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Wambewo were all killed in a hail of gunfire.All the three, namely Kaweesi, his driver and bodyguard were killed in a spray of bullets by unknown assassins at Kulambiro in Nakawa Division on the outskirts of Kampala as he left home for work on March 17, 2017.<\/p>\n

In the case of former Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Kagezi, she was mowed down while her bodyguard had stepped out to pick up some groceries for her at a roadside stall.<\/p>\n

But the bodyguard of Maj Mohammad Kiggundu weren\u2019t that lucky. In November 2016, Maj Kiggundu and bodyguard were killed in Masanafu, along with this bodyguard, Sgt Steven Mukasa, as they drove towards Kampala in a UPDF pick-up truck at around 7.30am.<\/p>\n
