Despite the criticism, he affirmed KACITA\u2019s support for government efforts to restore order in the CBD.<\/p>\n<p>He also addressed compensation for traders affected by the 2025 floods, noting that the Internal Security Organisation\u2019s vetting process verified several impacted arcades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want fairness and transparency before payments are made,\u201d he said, urging traders to confirm their details prior to compensation disbursement.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Sekito highlighted traders whose goods were abandoned in Kenya by logistics firm Credify, leaving containers stranded in Naivasha and at the Port of Mombasa.<\/p>\n<p>KACITA is coordinating with Uganda\u2019s Ministry of Trade, the Uganda Revenue Authority, and Kenyan authorities to repatriate the goods and secure tax waivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAffected traders should remain patient as negotiations continue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>KACITA reaffirmed that it will continue engaging government agencies to resolve challenges affecting traders and restore normal business operations in Kampala\u2019s commercial hub.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Uganda<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda.
