{"id":121428,"date":"2026-04-01T10:44:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T10:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/dfcu-reports-shs-74-9bn-profit-as-digital-usage-reaches-68"},"modified":"2026-04-01T11:50:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T11:50:23","slug":"dfcu-reports-shs-74-9bn-profit-as-digital-usage-reaches-68","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/dfcu-reports-shs-74-9bn-profit-as-digital-usage-reaches-68","title":{"rendered":"DFCU Reports Shs 74.9Bn Profit as Digital Usage Reaches 68%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda. <\/strong> <\/span><b>DFCU Limited has reported a profit after tax of Shs74.9 billion for the year ending December 31, 2025, reflecting a steady improvement in its financial performance.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>According to the Group\u2019s financial results, profit increased from Shs72.1 billion recorded in 2024, while earnings per share rose to Shs100.2.<\/p>\n<p>The Group attributed the growth to strong performance by its main subsidiary, dfcu Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank reported a profit after tax of Shs81.5 billion, with total income growing by 16% to Shs526 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Results further indicate that non-funded income rose by 20% to Shs108 billion, supporting overall earnings during the period.<\/p>\n<p>Customer deposits grew to Shs2.7 trillion, while the loan book expanded to Shs1.3 trillion, with asset quality remaining largely stable.<\/p>\n<p>The Group noted that Uganda\u2019s economy remained relatively stable during the year, although operating conditions tightened.<\/p>\n<p>It added that businesses faced limited liquidity and high funding costs, which affected borrowing and investment decisions.<\/p>\n<p>The report also highlighted that global trade disruptions and geopolitical tensions created uncertainty in the operating environment.<\/p>\n<p>In response, dfcu said it prioritised cost discipline, efficient capital allocation, and operational improvements to sustain performance.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank is now in what it described as a \u201creengineering phase,\u201d focused on improving efficiency and delivering consistent value to customers and shareholders.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, digital banking adoption continued to grow, with 68% of customers now using the *240# USSD service and mobile lending platforms to access services more conveniently.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, dfcu has recommended a dividend of Shs21.8 per share Shs16.3 billion, reflecting an increase of Shs1.7 from the Shs20.1 per share (Shs15 billion) paid for the year ended December 31, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This approach balances shareholder returns with the need to support future growth at acceptable risk levels,&#8221; dfcu noted.<\/p>\n<p>The bank also note the successful transition of the Agribusiness Development Center (ADC) to the dfcu Foundation, a move they believe will strengthen efforts to transform lives and businesses within the communities they serve.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Uganda<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda.
