He highlighted the growing demand for healthcare, coupled with a lack of essential equipment in many health facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Kabaka further noted that in several rural areas, ambulances are either too few, non-functional, or completely unavailable. He also raised concern about medical equipment that has been procured but remains unused for years without installation, as well as persistent power outages that continue to disrupt healthcare delivery and, in some cases, lead to preventable deaths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany health centers lack essential equipment, while some machines remain unused for years without installation,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Turning to urban development, the Kabaka supported the idea of well-planned cities that citizens can take pride in.<\/p>\n<p>However, he stressed the need for transparent and timely communication between authorities and residents regarding urban planning regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Kabaka Mutebi cautioned against delayed enforcement of building regulations, which often results in property demolitions after citizens have already invested in construction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo address this situation, urban planning frameworks should be communicated to the public in time, rather than waiting for people to construct buildings only for them to be demolished due to non-compliance,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>His comments follow the demolition of structures which form part of St. Balikuddembe Market, popular known as Owino Market, which reportedly occurred at about 10pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>However, in a statement following the incident, KCCA said the demolition was done by unidentified persons without authorisation.<\/p>\n<p>A teams report issued by the Ministry of Works and Transport and State House, finalised by March 12, later revealed that the affected structures were already compromised and posed significant safety risks, necessitating a controlled and lawful demolition of the remaining sections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe issued a demolition permit to the developer to ensure that the structurally compromised buildings were taken down in a safe and regulated manner,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Kabaka further underscored the need for fairness and efficiency in public service delivery, stating that proper management and equitable access to services would enable citizens to live comfortably and take pride in their country.<\/p>\n<p>The Kabaka concluded his message by wishing all his subjects a peaceful and blessed Easter season.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, Christians in Uganda are expected to turn up to various places of worship in large numbers to join the global Christian community in observing Easter, which commemorates the believed resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Uganda<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda.
