Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Kitara FC delivered a dominant performance to defeat Express FC 3\u20130 on Easter Day, securing a place in the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.<\/b><\/p>\n

Forward George Ssenkaaba opened the scoring in the 27th minute, giving the hosts an early lead. He returned in the second half to double the advantage in the 53rd minute, putting Kitara firmly in control of the match.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Wasswa sealed the victory in the 85th minute with a third goal, capping off an impressive display by the home side, while Express FC struggled to break through Kitara\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, Kitara FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa praised his team\u2019s performance and credited fans for their support.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud of our supporters\u2014they gave us the morale we needed. The team played well, and it was a deserved victory. Our focus now shifts to the semifinals. Whoever we face, we are determined to reach the final and win the trophy,\u201d Bbosa said.<\/p>\n

Club Chief Executive Officer Joshua Atugonza expressed confidence that Kitara FC can still compete strongly in both domestic competitions, including the Uganda Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to treat all remaining games as finals. We have performed well in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, and we still believe we can challenge for the Uganda Premier League title,\u201d Atugonza noted.<\/p>\n

Kinyara Sugar Limited, the club\u2019s main sponsor, also commended the team\u2019s performance. The company\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Francis Mugerwa, described the partnership as mutually beneficial.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a company, we are proud to be associated with a club that is performing exceptionally well. Our partnership will continue because we believe in sports as a platform that creates opportunities and employment for many Ugandans,\u201d Mugerwa said.<\/p>\n

Before kickoff, Kitara FC and fans observed a moment of silence in honor of their prominent supporter, the late Peter Banura Araali, the Kikuube District LC V Chairperson. Banura, who was also the son of retired Major General Matayo Kyaligonza, died following a road accident on Saturday night in Kiziranfumbi along the Hoima\u2013Fort Portal road.<\/p>\n
