Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Muslim leaders have urged young Qur\u2019an graduates to translate their knowledge into daily conduct, emphasizing moral discipline, faith, and community leadership during a graduation ceremony in Kampala.<\/b><\/p>\n

Muslim leaders have called on believers, especially young Qur\u2019an graduates, to uphold and practise the teachings of the Holy Qur\u2019an in their everyday lives as a foundation for building strong faith and upright character.<\/p>\n

The message was delivered by Sheikh Hafidh Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, who represented the Mufti of Uganda, Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, during a graduation ceremony of students who successfully memorized the entire Holy Qur\u2019an at Bilal Islamic Schools located in Bwaise, Kawempe Division in Kampala.<\/p>\n

In his address, Sheikh Bukenya emphasized the importance of translating Qur\u2019anic knowledge into daily conduct.<\/p>\n

\u201cPractise righteous living by putting into practice what you\u2019ve learnt at the centre,\u201d he urged the graduates, encouraging them to become role models within their communities.<\/p>\n

He also reflected on the historical journey of Islam in Uganda, noting that for over 200 years, Muslims have passed on the teachings of the Holy Qur\u2019an from one generation to another. However, he pointed out that at one time, there was a decline in proper teaching methods.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt reached a point when a Muslim would recite a Qur\u2019anic verse in his or her own native dialect, leading to the loss of its original meaning,\u201d Sheikh Bukenya explained.<\/p>\n

He credited the revival of proper Qur\u2019an memorization and teaching to institutions such as Bugembe Islamic Institute, which established structured memorization centres (Tahafidhu). He noted that he was among the pioneer students who benefited from these efforts.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Bukenya commended the growing number of Qur\u2019an memorization centres across the country, saying it reflects renewed commitment among Ugandan Muslims to preserve the Holy Qur\u2019an and strengthen spiritual growth.<\/p>\n

He further urged parents to support their children in memorizing the Qur\u2019an, saying it is key to nurturing disciplined, God-conscious, and morally upright individuals.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Sheikh Muhammad Kamoga highlighted the progress of the institution, revealing that the Qur\u2019an memorization centre was established in 2011 and has since registered significant achievements in nurturing young scholars.<\/p>\n

The ceremony marked not only an academic milestone for the 18 graduates but also a renewed call for Muslims to live by the values and teachings of the Holy Qur\u2019an in their daily lives.<\/p>\n
