Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>The Insurance Brokers Association Uganda (IBAU) has donated scholastic materials worth Shs10 million to Kiswa Primary School as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts ahead of its annual conference.<\/b><\/p>\n

The items, which included textbooks, pens, and other essential learning materials, were handed over during a function held at the school premises in Bugoloobi on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, IBAU Chairman Paul Muhame said the donation reflects the association\u2019s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting foundational education.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognize the important role this school plays in providing education to the community. Primary education is the foundation of learning, and we felt compelled to support the pupils with scholastic materials,\u201d Muhame said.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the school administration, Alice Nanvunanwa expressed gratitude to IBAU, noting that the donation would significantly enhance learning at the school.<\/p>\n

The donation comes ahead of the IBAU annual conference scheduled to take place in Mbarara from April 22 to 24. The conference is expected to bring together over 300 delegates from across East Africa and beyond.<\/p>\n

Addressing the press, Muhame emphasized that this year\u2019s conference will be held under the theme \u201cTrust Reimagined: Delivering on the Promise,\u201d highlighting the need for the insurance industry to rebuild public confidence.<\/p>\n

He noted that trust remains central to insurance, as it is fundamentally a promise to compensate clients in times of loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an industry, we are refocusing on the basics\u2014ensuring faster claims settlement and placing the customer at the center of everything we do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Muhame also underscored the role of players in helping deepen insurance.<\/p>\n

“Our role as insurance players and stakeholders is to work together to increase awareness of insurance and its value to the general public. We must also ensure that everyone who purchases insurance\u2014whether for life, savings, property, or liabilities\u2014has the confidence that in the event of a loss, they will be compensated and restored to their previous position.”<\/p>\n

Industry stakeholders also underscored the critical role of insurance brokers in bridging the gap between insurers and clients, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and improved customer experience.<\/p>\n

Daniel Kairu, Head of Business Development and Marketing at ICEA Lion Group, highlighted the importance of collaboration in growing the sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe in the power of working together. Trusting insurers with financial risks is the first step toward understanding the true value of insurance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Joseph Nsubuga, Chief Executive Officer of Mirai Insurance, said partnerships with brokers are key to increasing insurance penetration in Uganda.<\/p>\n

\u201cCollaboration is intentional. It is the only way we can expand access to insurance and ensure more Ugandans are financially protected,\u201d Nsubuga noted.<\/p>\n

He added that technology is increasingly playing a critical role in improving access, efficiency, and transparency in the insurance sector, including faster claims processing.<\/p>\n

Despite improvements in claims settlement, stakeholders acknowledged that low awareness remains a major barrier to insurance uptake, calling for joint efforts to educate the public on its importance.<\/p>\n
