Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>The Government of Uganda has intensified efforts to attract Chinese investment, offering land, generous tax incentives, and vast opportunities in the coffee value chain and agro-industrial sector.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was during a high-level meeting hosted by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development under the Uganda\u2013China Coffee Investment & Destination Tour 2026.<\/p>\n

The engagement reaffirmed the strong and growing economic partnership between Uganda and China, with a focus on unlocking value addition and industrialisation.<\/p>\n

The meeting was presided over by the Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (Investment and Privatisation), Evelyn Anite, who represented the Minister of Finance. She was joined by Uganda\u2019s Ambassador to China, Oliver Wonekha, and the leader of the Chinese delegation, Diao Chunhe.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the delegation, Anite applauded the longstanding Uganda\u2013China relationship spanning over 60 years and called for deeper collaboration to maximize its economic potential.<\/p>\n

She highlighted successful Chinese investments in Uganda, including the Liaoshen Industrial Park and the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park.<\/p>\n

She emphasized Uganda\u2019s competitive investment climate, noting that business registration is fast, affordable, and can be completed within 45 minutes. She outlined key incentives available to investors, including a 10-year tax holiday, exemptions on imported machinery, and access to land for strategic investments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President has directed my office to mobilize and allocate land to serious investors. In return, we expect investments that create jobs for Ugandans,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Hon. Anite also underscored Uganda\u2019s strong agricultural potential, describing the country as an ideal destination for large-scale farming and agro-processing, particularly in coffee. She encouraged investors to take advantage of Uganda\u2019s fertile soils and favorable climate.<\/p>\n

She further highlighted the government\u2019s ATMS strategy\u2014Agro-industrialisation, Tourism development, Mineral development, and Science and Technology innovation\u2014aimed at growing the economy tenfold to USD 500 billion.<\/p>\n

Uganda\u2019s Ambassador to China, Oliver Wonekha, emphasized the importance of economic diplomacy in driving mutually beneficial investments. She welcomed the delegation\u2019s interest in Uganda\u2019s coffee sector, noting its critical role in export growth and job creation.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Chairman Diao Chunhe expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed interest in investing in Uganda\u2019s coffee value chain, particularly in processing, value addition, and technology transfer, as well as expanding access to the Chinese market.<\/p>\n

Anite called for sustained engagement and closer collaboration to fast-track investment partnerships.<\/p>\n

The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening Uganda\u2013China economic cooperation and positioning Uganda as a leading investment destination in Africa.<\/p>\n
