Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga has commended late Besweri Kaddu\u2014father of the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu\u2014for his outstanding role in raising responsible and impactful children, who have significantly contributed to the development of the nation.<\/b><\/p>\n

The deceased passed away on Tuesday, at Mengo Hospital.<\/p>\n

He was 92.<\/p>\n

In his remarks\u2014delivered by the Second Deputy Katikkiro and Treasurer of Buganda Kingdom, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa\u2014during a funeral held at All Saint\u2019s Cathedral, Nakasero, on Thursday; Katikkiro Mayiga described the late Kaddu as a unifier, a development-oriented individual and a hardworking man, whose legacy is clearly reflected in the achievements and character of his children.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shall continue to remember him through the children he raised\u2014especially the Archbishop, whom we see constantly nurturing our spiritual lives, comforting us, and serving as a shining example of how a person should live,\u201d the message read.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the family, Archbishop Kaziimba revealed that his father had battled dementia for approximately 12 years; and was unable to recognize him by the time he became Archbishop.<\/p>\n

Representing the Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), the Archbishop of the Orthodox Church, His Eminence Jeronymos Muzeeyi extended his condolences to Archbishop Kaziimba\u2014praying that God grants him strength and comfort, together with his family.<\/p>\n

In his sermon, the Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala, Rt. Rev. Frederick Jackson Baalwa, commended the late Kaddu for maintaining hope and faith throughout his life\u2014even in his final moments. Bishop Baalwa urged Ugandans to remain hopeful about their country, and to avoid defeatist attitudes; emphasizing that optimism is key to national progress and success.<\/p>\n

In a message delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo, President Museveni also extended sympathies\u2014on behalf of the government, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and himself. He thanked God for the late Kaddu\u2019s life and achievements; and offered the family a condolence contribution of Shs 10 million.<\/p>\n

The funeral service was attended by the Nnaabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda; religious leaders from various denominations, and officials from both the central government and the Buganda Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Born on August 1, 1933, in Kiwangala Village, Najja Sub-County, Buikwe District; the late Kaddu will be laid to rest tomorrow\u2014April 17, 2026\u2014beginning with a funeral service at 12:00pm, in Gulama, Najja Sub-County, Buikwe District.<\/p>\n
