Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Buganda’s Minister in charge of Culture, Heritage, and Royal Tombs, Dr Anthony Wamala, has called on skilled individuals to improve the quality of their work and remain trustworthy to those they serve.<\/b><\/p>\n

He made these remarks during the Annual Fashion Show 2026 held at Kabaka\u2019s Institute Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education Kakeeka Mengo where students from the Art and Design department showcased their creative work.<\/p>\n

The event featured a wide range of designs, including cultural and traditional outfits from different communities, hair styling, and other innovative fashion pieces developed through their studies.<\/p>\n

While addressing the audience, Dr Anthony Wamala praised both students and lecturers for their efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work displayed here shows great creativity and dedication. I thank the lecturers for equipping these students with the necessary skills,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further advised students to prioritize values over financial gain.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you step into the world, uphold honesty and integrity in everything you do. Do not let money come before your principles,\u201d Dr. Wamala emphasized.<\/p>\n

The event was also attended by Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko, Minister for Education and Development of Kabaka\u2019sSubjects in the Kingdom , and Moses Ariho, the Rubaga Resident City Commissioner and many other Dignitaries.<\/p>\n

Minista Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko commended the high standards reflected in the students\u2019 designs, noting that they align with Buganda Kingdom\u2019s vision of promoting excellence.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything done at this institution must meet high standards. Your work is valuable, and it should be competitive on the market,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

Moses Ariho, on his part, appreciated the Kabaka for his continued efforts in promoting education and improving the livelihoods of his people.<\/p>\n

The institute\u2019s Principal, Joseph Balikudembe, encouraged students to build on what they showcased during the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo not stop at this exhibition. Continue improving your skills so that your work adds value to your lives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Head of Art and Design department, Monica Zawedde, explained that this year\u2019s theme focused on innovation in fashion, aimed at promoting culture and creativity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have showcased different skills that reflect our culture and traditions. Our students are well-trained, but we call upon the government to support arts education,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The Annual Fashion Show is held every year to provide Art and Design students with a platform to exhibit the skills and knowledge they acquire during their studies.<\/p>\n
