Africa-Press<\/a> – Uganda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Eight districts in Acholi Sub-region will Thursday hold a joint council meeting to honour the late former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Maj Gen Paul Lokech \u2018\u2018for the great work exhibited towards the restoration of peace in northern Uganda.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Pader District speaker, Mr Wellborn Ottober Odia confirmed to Daily Monitor that all councillors and speakers from Amuru, Agago, Kitgum, Gulu, Lamwo, Nwoya, Omoro will converge in Pader for this development.<\/p>\n

The session will be chaired by the speaker of the host district at Paipir Primary School playground.<\/p>\n

“All district councils in Acholi sub-region have already confirmed their participation,” Mr Ottober said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Pader LC5 chairman, Col (Rtd) Fearless Obwoya Oyat, who also doubles as the chairperson organising committee, said they have secured 24 tents and about 2, 600 chairs to host at least 6,000 mourners at Mr Lokech’s send-off.<\/p>\n

Mr Geoffrey Komakech Okumu, a district councillor in Pader, welcomed the move to honour the deceased.<\/p>\n

Maj Gen Paul Lokech died at his home in Kampala on Saturday after he suffered a blood clot, according to a post-mortem report released by police spokesperson, Mr Fred Enanga.<\/p>\n

He will be buried Friday August 27, at his ancestral home in Lubele south, Luna ward in Pader Town Council.<\/p>\n
