{"id":17067,"date":"2021-09-04T16:51:06","date_gmt":"2021-09-04T16:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/?p=17067"},"modified":"2021-09-04T15:16:17","modified_gmt":"2021-09-04T15:16:17","slug":"bududa-police-arrest-accountant-over-forgery-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/bududa-police-arrest-accountant-over-forgery-theft","title":{"rendered":"Bududa police arrest accountant over forgery, theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\">Uganda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Bududa District have arrested a sub-county accountant on allegations of forging the signatures of the sub-county chief.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s reported that the suspect forged the signature of Ms Grace Apolot, the Nakatsi Sub County chief to enable him to withdraw Shs28 million from the sub-county bank account.<\/p>\n<p>The Elgon regional police spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika, confirmed the arrest of the 50-year-old accountant, saying investigations are still ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is alleged that the suspect between February 20, 2021 and August 4, forged the signature of the sub-county chief and withdrew money totaling to Shs28 million from the sub county\u2019s Centenary Bank account,\u201d he said, adding that they have preferred charges of theft, forgery, and fraud against him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe summoned him to the police, but refused and went into hiding.
