Africa-Press<\/a> – Uganda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A group of Uganda’s opposition leaders from different political parties on Thursday 07, October 2021, launched a new pressure group which intends to kick President Yoweri Museveni’s ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM) out of power.<\/p>\n

It was named People’s Front for Transition (PFT) which will be led by four-time presidential contender Dr Kizza Besigye their leader, deputised by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, and former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patric Oboi Amuruiat, by Chimpreports.<\/p>\n

Why new pressure group<\/strong><\/p>\n

The opposition says Uganda has been in a crisis of ignorance, disease and poverty for the last 59 years of independence, a situation they say has been made worse in the last 35 years of the current regime. They insisted that unless something is done, the situation will remain the same.<\/p>\n

According to Dr Besigye they intend to call upon all peace loving Ugandans to end what he described as a plunder of the country through bad leadership. Singling out the continued closure of schools in Uganda as one of the signs of maladministration.<\/p>\n

Dr Besigye stated that if the ruling party misses on building knowledge for 15 million people, it means that the government has missed out on 30 years of development. Adding that Uganda is the only country in Africa at the moment with school closed.<\/p>\n

Strategic plan<\/strong><\/p>\n

The pressure group is planning to ensure that they use other means other than elections to overthrow the ruling government. Mr Amuriat revealed that they will make sure that the next elections will not be just an election because they know that it cannot remove the dictator.<\/p>\n

However Robert Kyagulanyi allias Bobi Wine’s main party National Unity Platform (NUP) did not join the new pressure group, and was absent during the launch.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Africa-Press, the National Unity Platform Joel Ssenyonyi said the party was not invited to be part of the PFT, but Dr Besigye while appearing on a Tv show on Thursday night insisted that NUP was invited.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
