Africa-Press<\/a> – Uganda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A former employee with Stabex International has sued the company over breach of privacy.<\/p>\n

In a case filed before the Commercial Division of the High Court, Ms Shadia Nalubega wants court to declare that Stabex, an oil marketing company, has unfairly benefited from the use of her images in promoting its products.<\/p>\n

Ms Nalubega wants court to issue an injunction against Stabex, its agents and servants to stop usage of her images in any way.<\/p>\n

According to documents before court, on June 2019, Ms Nalubega was employed by Stabex as a customer service assistant before she was offered a three- year fixed term contract with the effect from March 1, 2020.<\/p>\n

It was then, she claims, that she was photographed without consent and her images were later used on billboards, media, brochures, fliers and social media in advertising and marketing campaigns to promote Stabex products.<\/p>\n

Stabex, documents indicate, continues to use and earn from Ms Nalubega\u2019s images even after unfairly terminating her contract in March 2021.<\/p>\n

Acting through Nomrek Law Consultants and Advocates, Ms Nalubega claims that Stabex\u2019s actions are not only a misrepresentation, false endorsement and breach of confidence but are also unjust enrichment for which it ought to be held liable for damages.<\/p>\n

Ms Nalubega wants court to declare that her rights have been infringed on, therefore, entitled to royalty fees of 20 per cent from sales generated from the date of unauthorised use of her images.<\/p>\n

She also wants court to enter judgement against Stabex for compensation of Shs200m, general and punitive damages and the removal or withdraw of from circulation any company material that bears her images.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
