Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Kamuli District are investigating circumstances and motive behind the suspected poisoning of a resident’s farm in Namwendwa Village, Butaaya Zone on Tuesday that left a cow, sheep and 10 goats dead.<\/p>\n

The Busoga North Police Spokesperson, Mr Michael Kasadha, said they recovered a bottle that contained herbicides which they suspect was used to spray on the grass fodder that the animals ate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are digging deeper into the historical clues of any conflict leads and for sure we will harvest the suspects,\u201d Mr Kasadha said, adding that the district veterinary officer visited the scene and collected samples for postmortem which revealed the animals died of toxic poison.<\/p>\n

Mr Muzamiru Kaziba, the owner of the farm, lamented that this has been the second setback since he relocated to the village to set up development projects. Earlier, he said he lost a fish pond estimated at Shs80m to suspected poisoning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my land and I am not encroaching on any; so where do you want me to go?\u201d he asked, warning that the perpetrators \u201cwill meet a disastrous end elsewhere\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Milton Ngobi, the Butaaya-Bulange Zone chairperson, condemned the act and described it as \u201cmalicious\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Ambrose Gudoi, the herdsman, narrated that he cut the grass and made fodder for the animals; but as they ate, a few minutes later, they started twitching their tails and shaking their heads before dropping dead one-by-one.<\/p>\n

He added that he raised an alarm which attracted residents to the scene and tried to make the animals ingest Omo detergent and cooking oil, but all was in vain.<\/p>\n
