Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Uganda’s long-distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has secured a second medal for Uganda at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after winning the men’s 10,000m final to take gold.<\/p>\n

Kiplimo, 21, broke gold medallist Joshua Cheptegei’s 10,000m record in a stunning time of 27:09:19.<\/p>\n

“I am very excited….today I knew I would win because I saw the pace was a little bit slow,” said Kiplimo while speaking after winning the race Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

On crossing the line to finish ahead of Kenyan pair Daniel Ebenyo and Kibiwott Kandie, Kiplimo celebrated with a dance before telling journalists “I think for me winning this Commonwealth Games title was everything, the most important thing for me this season.”<\/p>\n

“But I still have a lot of things to do in the future at the Olympics and world championships,” added Kiplimo who took bronze at the recent world championships.<\/p>\n
