Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Two people died Wednesday after a motorcycle they were riding on to attend a colleague\u2019s burial ceremony collided with a speeding truck at Lwemirondo Village along the newly tarmacked Sembabule-Bukomansimbi- Masaka road.<\/p>\n

The 5:30pm road crash which left another person seriously hurt claimed the lives of Steven Muzungu and a one Ndizire \u2013 both residents of Kyeera Sub County in Sembabule District.<\/p>\n

The survivor, a boy was standing on the roadside when he got knocked by the truck whose driver is currently on the run.<\/p>\n

Muzungu and Ndizire were travelling to Kikoma Village to attend the burial ceremony of one of their friends, Emmanuel Kigonya who\u2019s said to have died of poison.<\/p>\n

Eyewitness said the speeding truck crashed the motorcycle as the driver attempted to dodge a cow which was crossing the road.<\/p>\n

Sembabule District Chairperson, Mr Patrick Nkalubo who was one of the first responders condemned truck drivers who reportedly chauffeur under the influence of drugs or alcohol and cautioned road users on adherence to road safety rules and regulations.<\/p>\n

The officer in charge of Sembabule Police Station, Mr Abdul Nasser Hidujah said the suspected driver sped off after the accident.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we are making efforts to track the car and driver to face the law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sembabule has recorded a series of fatal crashes in the last three months claiming the lives of over 10 people. Most of the crashes have occurred along the Sembabule -Bukomansimbi-Masaka road and are attributed to reckless driving.<\/p>\n
