Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Pope Francis yesterday appointed the Soroti Diocese missionary priest as the new Bishop for Kotido Diocese, after the resignation of the pastoral care of the diocese of Kotido, Monsignor Giuseppe Filippi.<\/p>\n

Fr Dominic Eibu until his appointment has been the parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Cairo (Egypt).<\/p>\n

\u201cSubsequently, he obtained a Licentiate in Arabic and Islamic Studies in Cairo (Egypt) and then at the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies of Rome,\u201d the Holy Father\u2019s letter reads in part.<\/p>\n

Fr Eibu was born on April 30, 1970. He studied philosophy at the Queen of Apostle\u2019s Philosophy Centre in Jinja.<\/p>\n

He made his first vows on May 16, 1998 at the Institute of the Comboni Missionaries in Namugongo (Kampala). He, later, completed his theology studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.<\/p>\n

He made his perpetual vows on January 12, 2002 and was ordained a priest on August 15, 2002.<\/p>\n

He has held the following positions: Director of the Comboni Primary School in Khartoum (2005-2016).<\/p>\n

Vice Provincial Superior of the Comboni Province of Khartoum (2008-2013); Member and Secretary of the College of Consultors (2013-2016); Secretary of the Presbyteral Council (2013-2016); Secretary of Education (2013-2016); since 2017, School Director and Deputy Parish Priest in Cairo.<\/p>\n

He is currently parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Cairo, Vice Provincial Superior of Egypt-Sudan and a member of the Education Committee at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).<\/p>\n
