{"id":39604,"date":"2022-11-01T10:22:38","date_gmt":"2022-11-01T10:22:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/manufacturing-takes-biggest-share-of-ubd-loans"},"modified":"2022-11-01T10:59:45","modified_gmt":"2022-11-01T10:59:45","slug":"manufacturing-takes-biggest-share-of-ubd-loans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/manufacturing-takes-biggest-share-of-ubd-loans","title":{"rendered":"Manufacturing takes biggest share of UBD loans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Manufacturing took the largest share of Uganda Development Bank\u2019s (UDB) financing in the third quarter of 2022, according to Ms Patricia Ojangole, the bank\u2019s managing director.<\/p>\n<p>During the period, Ms Ojangole indicated, Shs237b was disbursed out of the Shs333b approved funding, of which Shs180b went to manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>Other allocations, she noted, went to primary agriculture, which received Shs83b while Shs48b went to agro-processing.<\/p>\n<p>The two sectors took up at least 80 percent of the disbursed funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe funding was allocated to 72 projects across the country and operating within UDB\u2019s priority sectors. In line with its strategy, 80 percent of these approvals were towards projects engaged in primary agriculture, agro-processing and manufacturing,\u201d she said in a statement at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The quarter covered the period between July and September, in which UDB indicated that its gross loan investments had improved by 15 percent to close at Sh1.18 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>Investments approved, Ms Ojangole, said had improved UBD\u2019s approvals, rising to Shs797b since January compared to Shs479b in the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>During the period, UDB\u2019s total assets grew by 19 percent to Shs1.44 trillion from Shs1.21 trillion due to growth in bank\u2019s loan book, supported by government\u2019s capitalisation and draw down of lines of credit from funders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the quarter, the bank received Shs26.65b from government budgetary allocation, increasing capital receipts to Shs86.1b,\u201d Ms Ojangole indicated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\">Uganda<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda.
