{"id":39851,"date":"2022-11-05T19:50:42","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T19:50:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/bukedea-student-father-arrested-after-carrying-bullets-to-school"},"modified":"2022-11-05T19:56:54","modified_gmt":"2022-11-05T19:56:54","slug":"bukedea-student-father-arrested-after-carrying-bullets-to-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/bukedea-student-father-arrested-after-carrying-bullets-to-school","title":{"rendered":"Bukedea student, father arrested after carrying bullets to school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Bukedea District in eastern Uganda are holding a senior one student and his father after they were allegedly found in unlawful possession of 27 rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>Their arrest followed a tip off from eyewitness who reportedly saw the student in possession of three rounds of ammunition at St. Theresa Secondary School where he studies from.<\/p>\n<p>Police said they got the tip on November 1, 2022 at around 4:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe consequently visited the scene where three bullets were recovered and after conducting a search at his residence, we recovered 24 more bullets,\u201d said the East Kyoga regional police spokesperson, SP Oscar Gregg Ageca.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspects are being held to establish the source of the ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the two are facing charges of unlawful possession of Government stores contrary to the penal code.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to warn the general public and reiterate the importance of not keeping or storing or being in possession of any items that are a preserve of the armed forces, as it&#8217;s a crime under the legal regime of the Republic of Uganda,\u201d SP Ageca said.<\/p>\n<p>There has been elevated vigilance in the district after suspected armed robbers last month raided Bukedea Petro City fuel station at night and shot one person dead in an attack that left two others nursing bullet wounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\">Uganda<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda.
