Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Archbishop of Church of Uganda Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has urged youth to avoid bad groups that may lead them into evil acts such as homosexuality.<\/p>\n

While closing a three-day annual provincial youth convention at Mukono High School on Monday, Archbishop Kaziimba said the future of the Church of Uganda is vested in young people yet many evil-minded people and organisations are targeting them to lure them into gay activities.<\/p>\n

He said the recruiters have a lot of money and they disguise as donors wanting to support students\u2019 education, among other promises.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware that there are bad groups recruiting our students, youth into gay, lesbianism and transgender. So, I warn you not to accept to be lured, don\u2019t accept because the repercussions are dire,\u201d the archbishop said<\/p>\n

The convention, which drew participants from the 38 dioceses, was held under the theme; \u201cHope alive\u201d extracted from Romans 5:5.<\/p>\n

Archbishop Kaziimba also warned churches against receiving money whose source is not clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch funding has proven to have hidden agendas with strings attached like sponsoring same\u2013sex marriages which the Church of Uganda has vehemently preached against,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The prelate also preached against corruption, saying it has eaten the entrails of the country\u2019s moral fabric, adding that if such acts are not stopped, the future generation will also be affected .<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil we have men and women whose hopes are alive in Christ, we will never get a stable nation, we can\u2019t have a nation that\u2019s free from all the vices coming from the devil unless we have hope live in Jesus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Stance on homosexuality<\/b><\/p>\n

Since his enthronement in March 2020, Archbishop Kaziimba has consistently spoken against homosexuality, saying Church of Uganda shall continue to emphasise heterosexual marriages as the lifelong, exclusive bond between one man and one woman for procreation as reflected in the Bible. Homosexuality is illegal under the Penal Code Act and it carries a possible seven-year sentence for those caught in the same sex relations. Nearly a decade ago, the Ugandan Church, along with others in Africa, broke its ties with Anglicans in North America over the issue of gay ordinations and same-sex blessings.<\/p>\n
