Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Kyotera District are investigating circumstances under which a 32-year-old medical research officer died at one of the guest houses in Kalisizo Town Council.<\/p>\n

Dr Polly Bandola who got a new job at Africa Medical and Behavioural Sciences Organisation (AMBSO) a fortnight ago on Wednesday hit his head on a metal object in the compound of the guest house where he has been staying before he died, police said.<\/p>\n

One of the top members of the board at AMBSO who preferred anonymity to speak freely about the incident told this publication on Friday that the organisation will dearly miss Dr Bandola\u2019s services.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s absurd that we have lost such a youthful and intelligent employee whom we thought would lift our organisation. For the two weeks we have been with him, he has been so cooperative, obedient and hardworking,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n

Mr Hassan Musooba, the Kyotera District Police Commander, said investigations into the 10pm incident are ongoing to ascertain what exactly caused Dr Bandola\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Dr Bandola is said to have slipped and hit his head after returning from work.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so saddened by the death of the doctor but we have so far arrested four people to help us with investigations, but our officers are working tirelessly to get to the bottom,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The AMBSO organisation which has offices in the districts of Wakiso and Hoima also opened a branch in Kalisizo Town Council, Kyotera District about three years ago.<\/p>\n

It focuses on under-researched and emerging public health issues in Uganda, including mental health, substance use, gender based violence, violence against children, food insecurity, health behaviours, disability and emerging diseases.<\/p>\n

Dr Bandola was buried at his ancestral home in Magabi Village, Kibanda Sub County, in Rakai District on Friday.<\/p>\n
