Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>A man accused of killing seven women in Limpopo has been transferred from prison to a police station’s holding cells after a correctional services officer allegedly threatened to poison him.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane heard that the officer, identified as a Mr Senyatsi, approached Prince Willard Themba Dube and threatened to put poison in his food.<\/p>\n

Dube’s lawyer, Desmond Nonyane, told Judge Gerrit Muller: “As a result, the accused says he is starving as he has not eaten since then.”<\/p>\n

It prompted Nonyane to apply to the High Court for Dube’s immediate transfer to the Polokwane police station holding cells. He brought the application after presenting his closing argument in Dube’s criminal trial.<\/p>\n

The judge ordered that the accused be transferred from the prison to the holding cells until the judgment in his criminal trial on Monday.<\/p>\n

The judge also ordered that the prosecutor should engage with correctional services authorities to investigate the matter.<\/p>\n

Dube, 36, a Zimbabwean national, is accused of the murder of seven women, as well as charges of kidnapping, rape, extortion and contravention of the Immigration Act. It is alleged that he is in South Africa illegally.<\/p>\n

The bodies of the women were found dumped in different locations in Polokwane between August and October 2021. He allegedly lured the women with the promise of employment.<\/p>\n

Both the State and the defence have submitted their closing arguments in the criminal trial.<\/p>\n
