Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>The police in Kayunga District are investigating circumstances under which a Busaana Sub-county councilor was hacked to death by unknown assailants.<\/p>\n

George Samanya\u2019s body was found lying in a pool of blood on Thursday morning in his retail shop in Wanteete village, Busaana Sub-county, Kayunga District.<\/p>\n

The district officer in-charge of the criminal investigations department, Ms Beatrice Ajwang, on Thursday said Samanya has been the male councilor representing people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

Ms Ajwang said Samanya\u2019s wife, Joyce Nakyazze told detectives that she left her husband in the shop at around 8am and went to the garden.<\/p>\n

\u201cNakyazze went to the garden but she was reportedly surprised to see clients approaching her to ask her to go and sell them commodities. She told them that her husband was in the shop but that they told her the shop was closed,\u201d Ms Ajwanga explained.<\/p>\n

It was at this point, the CID boss said, that Nakyazze rushed to the shop to check on her husband, only to find him lying dead in a pool of blood.<\/p>\n

But Ms Ajwang told this publication that children found at the scene of crime told detectives that they saw Samanya\u2019s body when they went to the shop to buy sweets but Ms Nakyazze warned them not to tell anyone about it.<\/p>\n

Late Samanya\u2019s body had deep cuts on the head. The motive behind his murder is also still unknown.<\/p>\n

\u201cA neighbor to the deceased also told us that Nakyazze had in the wee hours rushed to them telling them that Samanya had died and that she wanted them to help her to remove the merchandise from the shop.<\/p>\n

It is not clear where and why she wanted to remove the merchandise from the shop.<\/p>\n

\u201cActing on the information we have received from the children, we have arrested the deceased\u2019s wife to help in the investigations,\u201d Ms Ajwang said.<\/p>\n

The body was taken to Kayunga regional referral hospital for postmortem as investigations go on.<\/p>\n

This is the second person to be murdered in the district under similar circumstances in just two weeks.<\/p>\n
