Africa-Press<\/a> – uganda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The state minister for finance planning and economic development David Bahati has hailed the NRM government for empowering women.<\/b><\/p>\n

Bahati said women’s issues in Uganda have been addressed in the NRM government than they were in the former regimes.<\/p>\n

While meeting Kabale district NRM party leaders recently, Bahati who is also the NRM chairman for Kabale district said in regards to boosting health services, the NRM government has built 13 health centres in the 15 sub-counties of Kabale district.<\/p>\n

“We have also immunised almost 95% of the children in the country against killer diseases and distributed mosquito nets to every household. These health programmes continue to save lives of children and women and have raised the life expectancy of Ugandans from 43years in 1991 to 63.3 years in 2018,” said Bahati.<\/p>\n

Bahati further appealed to women to continue supporting the continuity of development in Uganda which can only be guaranteed by Museveni and the NRM government which have so far exhibited tested leadership.<\/p>\n

On electoral violence, Bahati implored women to advise their children and husbands to desist from violent acts in order to protect their lives. ” Please advise your children especially youths and even your husbands to work for peace in the current political situation. Tell them to avoid violence because if our youth die, it is you the mothers who labour for nine months who will feel more pain,” said Bahati.<\/p>\n

He said so far the NRM government has made sure that in the 15 sub-counties within Kabale district there is a National Teachers College, Uganda College of Commerce and 15 secondary schools.<\/p>\n

On the question of road network in Kabale district, Bahati said government has already allocated sh10b to work on Rushoroza,Rugarama ,Bugongi – Nangara roads and Old Kabale road roads which starts from Nyakigugwe to Kyanamira.<\/p>\n

He also advised women to join the new government programmes like “Emyooga programme where government has invested over sh260b.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by the all women MPs from Kabale ,Rukiiga and<\/p>\n
