Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Education and Sports yesterday unveiled the Commonwealth scholarships for the 2024\/2025 academic year, unlocking doors for Ugandan students to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

These scholarships present a gateway to prospects at both Masters and PhD levels, with at least 35 slots available.<\/p>\n

These are among the most competitive scholarships offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Committee to Ugandan students through the Ministry of Education, and the selection process is rigorous.<\/p>\n

According to a circular released yesterday by the Ministry of Education, a diverse array of fields is available for exploration, encompassing areas ranging from Health Sciences, Education, Agriculture Science, and Engineering Science to Law for PhD applicants.<\/p>\n

Those inclined towards Masters degrees can choose from disciplines like Health Science, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Computer Science, Science Education, and Sports Science.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 2024\/2025 competitive offers are available at PhD (15) and Masters (20) levels. Eligible individuals are encouraged to apply by September 8 through the Ministry of Education as per the circular,\u201d stated Mr Denis Mugimba, the spokesperson of the Education ministry.<\/p>\n

The application process involves drafting a detailed letter specifying one\u2019s age, gender, programme of study, home district, contact information, work experience, and photos of academic documents.<\/p>\n

This letter should be addressed to the Secretary of the Central Scholarship Committee at the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n

The list of shortlisted candidates, as per the circular, is slated to be posted on the notice board of the Ministry of Education at Embassy House and on the website on September 22.<\/p>\n

Mr Mugimba yesterday told Daily Monitor that the shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an interview at the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, they will undergo another interview by the Commonwealth Scholarship Committee.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are highly competitive scholarships. The ministry nominates the successful students who are then subjected to the Commonwealth Committee interviews,\u201d Mr Mugimba said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s at the Commonwealth Committee interviews that the final award of scholarships takes place. These are full scholarships offered to the beneficiaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scheme benefits students from across the Commonwealth who can\u2019t afford to study in the UK.<\/p>\n

This scholarship initiative isn\u2019t just about studying abroad; it\u2019s about embarking on a journey of academic excellence and personal growth.<\/p>\n

The selected scholars will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in world-class education, cutting-edge research, and cross-cultural experiences.<\/p>\n

This exposure will not only enrich their own lives but also contribute to Uganda\u2019s advancement in various fields.<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the circular, aspiring PhD candidates must have secured admission from a UK university and a supervisor from their chosen field.<\/p>\n

A first degree with at least an upper second-class honour in the relevant field is a prerequisite for this level.<\/p>\n

For Masters programmes, a minimum of two years\u2019 work experience in the relevant domain.<\/p>\n
