{"id":56633,"date":"2023-10-05T16:54:29","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T16:54:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/?p=56633"},"modified":"2023-10-05T16:32:15","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T16:32:15","slug":"seven-nup-supporters-arrested-ahead-of-bobi-wine-return-fete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/seven-nup-supporters-arrested-ahead-of-bobi-wine-return-fete","title":{"rendered":"Seven NUP supporters arrested ahead of Bobi Wine return fete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Entebbe police led by the Entebbe Main Police Station OC, Mr Ivan Kareiga have arrested seven National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters and leaders in Entebbe municipality and Katabi town council ahead of the much-anticipated return of party leader, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine from his mobilisation tours in South Africa and canada tomorrow.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The NUP members were picked up at Abaita Ababiri by the police as they gathered and chanted party slogans ahead of the event themed &#8220;One Million March to Entebbe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Wakiso District NUP women\u2019s forum leader, Ms Joyce Nabatta who was part of the group said preparations are in high gear to welcome Mr Kyagulanyi despite the increased presence of security deployment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s true there is a lot of security deployment but we believe it\u2019s there to protect us not to stop us from welcoming the nation\u2019s leader who was voted by the people, President Kyagulanyi Sentamu tomorrow at 10am at Entebbe International Airport,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO ASP Luke Owoyesigyire told that so far seven Bobi Wine supporters are in detention following todays arrest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are seven people detained at Entebbe main police station and they have preferred charges of unlawful assembly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Currently there is an increased presence of security personnel comprising UPDF, SFC and Uganda Police Forces, deployed in Entebbe and along the Kampala \u2013 Entebbe highway folowing the announcemnet of Bobi Wine return.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\">Uganda<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda.
