Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Kassanda District are investigating the mysterious murder of a 46-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife.<\/b><\/p>\n

Fred Niyoyita and his wife, Keren Sekunda were on Friday morning found dead at their home in Katonga Village in Kitumbi Parish, Kitumbi Sub County in Kassanda District.<\/p>\n

According to Wamala regional police spokesperson, Ms Rachel Kawala, the couple\u2019s bodies were discovered at around 7am by residents who were on the way to their gardens.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon closer inspection, they [residents] observed multiple fresh cuts on his head and found his door wide open. Upon looking inside his [Niyoyita] house, they discovered the lifeless body of his wife lying on her bed facing downwards,\u201d Mr Kawala said.<\/p>\n

She said the area chairperson was notified and the case was reported to the police.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreliminary findings suggest that the couple had been married for over 25 years and had a history of long-standing domestic violence. It is suspected that following the gruesome murder of his wife (Sekunda), Niyoyita may have also fallen victim to a mob attack,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

It was also established that Sekunda was struck on the head with a blunt object, possibly a log, which was found near his body.<\/p>\n

Both bodies were conveyed to Kassanda Health Centre IV for postmortem.<\/p>\n
