Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Lands State Minister, Sam Mayanja has ordered the immediate arrest of Robert Mbaziira, the chairman of Mukono District Land Board following irregularities in his operations.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mbaziira\u2019s arrest followed numerous complaints from the aggrieved residents in the meeting held at Mukono District Headquarters.<\/p>\n

Complaining before the Minister, the locals accused Mbaziira of being very corrupt and how he and the entire board never made verification to see who the rightful person was to obtain a minute to get the land title, thus giving out land to numerous people.<\/p>\n

The residents before the minister also accused the Mukono district RDC, Hajat. Fatuma Ndisaba is one of the land grabbers in the district, citing that Ndisaba is being used by the rich to threaten the people who always seek help from her office.<\/p>\n

They added that Ndisaba no longer works for the good of the poor, she instead connives with the land grabbers after promising her a share of the contested piece of land; they pleaded that she should be transferred to another district.<\/p>\n

However, Ndisaba distanced herself from the accusations regarding them as false and aimed at tainting her name.<\/p>\n

Among the complainants was the Mukono diocese Bishop, Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, expressed his concern over the unknown people who are ferried onto church land citing those at Nakanyonyi and Kisowera Church land.<\/p>\n

Kitto said that all these acts are known by the security in the district, at headquarters and the land governing bodies both in Mukono and Kampala are aware of the ongoing thuggery but nothing has been done to save the church land.<\/p>\n

Mbaziira was tasked to explain the irregularities and provide documents for the contested land, something he failed to do.<\/p>\n

This prompted Mayanja to order Mbaziira\u2019s arrest and be taken to Mukono Central police station, the arrest drew jubilation from the locals, and Mayanja also ordered the cancellation of all illegal land titles on public land.<\/p>\n
