Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Bulemeezi beat Gomba to lift this year\u2019s Buganda Masaza Cup in finals played at the Muteesa II Memorial Stadium in Wankulukuku on Saturday afternoon.<\/b><\/p>\n

In an end to end game, Johnson Senyonga\u2019s 71st minute strike was enough for Bulemeezi to silence the team from Gomba in a filled to capacity Wankulukuku stadium.<\/p>\n

With the game still stalemate, Ssenyonga received the ball and took a spectacular long range strike that Gomba\u2019s goalkeeper, Joseph Lubega could not dare stop.<\/p>\n

The goal sent fans into frenzy at Wankulukuku.<\/p>\n

Bulemeezi came close to doubling their lead again through Ssenyonga but Patrick Kagulire cleared the shot off the line.<\/p>\n

Gomba\u2019s quest for an equalizer remained fruitless as Bulemeezi defenders stuck their guns.<\/p>\n

The win ensured Bulemeezi won their third Masaza Cup after lifting the trophy earlier in 2012 and 2019.<\/p>\n

Earlier, in the loser\u2019s match, Mawokota beat Buddu 3nil to seal the third spot, thanks to a brace from Calvin Peter Emayu and Dennis Kkonde\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n

In individual awards, Gomba\u2019s Allan Oyirwoth was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, Yusuf Mukwana (Kyaggwe) claimed the top scorer title with seven goals, while Abdul Bagenda was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Buganda Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga congratulated the winners.<\/p>\n

Airtel Uganda Public Relations Manager, David Birungi said the company will continue supporting sports in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Airtel \u2013 Masaza Cup brings communities together, is an avenue to celebrate culture, empower the youth through sports, and a stage to address crucial social issues like creating sensitization campaigns about the preventative measures of HIV\/AIDs which drive is central building a healthy and productive human resource,\u201d Birungi said.<\/p>\n
