Express and KCCA are the joint most successful clubs with 10 titles each in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.<\/p>\n

Unlike their rivals who were most recently 2018 winners, it is 14 years since Express last lifted the trophy.<\/p>\n

But the trophies have since dried up with Express only adding a league title in 2012.<\/p>\n

Three time Cup winners URA also find themselves in a similar situation with 2014 being the last time they won any silverware.<\/p>\n

The two teams consequently view this season\u2019s competition as a big opportunity to end their trophy drought at the tournament that will start at the round-of-32 stage this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re glad we now know our opponents in Kyetume FC a team we played against in our second last game of the first round, we respect them but our target like I said at the start of the season remains to win silverware and the Uganda Cup is one of two titles in sight\u201d Express head coach Wasswa Bossa said of his team\u2019s round-of-32 tie against Kyetume.<\/p>\n

The draw held yesterday at Fufa house in Mengo include two other topflight ties with reigning league champions Vipers facing off with Busoga United.<\/p>\n

The other is that of current UPL leaders URA who play Mbarara with all rounds until the final set to be played on home and away basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a tournament we take seriously and definitely want to win. There is no doubt. We were unlucky season because we were due to play Wakiso Giants at the round of 16 stage before the tournament was cancelled,\u201d URA coach Sam Simbwa said of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Only teams in the top two divisions UPL and Big League are taking part in this season\u2019s tournament.The tournament was last season also cancelled at the quarterfinal stage because of the lockdown announced by government and caused by Covid-19.<\/p>\n
