Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Standard Chartered Bank has concluded its decade-long Goal Program, an initiative designed to empower girls and young women with life skills, financial literacy, and economic opportunities.<\/b><\/p>\n

The programme, which has had a transformative impact on participants and communities, celebrated its closure with plans for sustainability and ongoing support.<\/p>\n

Akello Rose Mary, Project Manager for Goal at BRAC, emphasized the continuation of the program\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have partnered with districts to establish safe spaces and youth centers where these girls can continue to access mentorship and training,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She highlighted BRAC\u2019s commitment to follow-ups and monitoring to ensure participants stay on course, leveraging the skills and opportunities they have gained.<\/p>\n

A Decade of Impact<\/b><\/p>\n

The Goal Program reached 69,430 girls across 56 districts in Uganda, equipping them with critical skills for personal and economic transformation.<\/p>\n

Globally, the program impacted over one million girls, marking it as one of Standard Chartered Bank\u2019s most significant youth empowerment initiatives.<\/p>\n

Sanjay Rughani, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, underscored the program’s lasting influence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis initiative has not only transformed individual lives but entire communities. With an investment of over Shs.2 billion in Uganda, we are proud to have created a strong foundation for young women to thrive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Focus on the Future<\/b><\/p>\n

Although the Goal Program has concluded, Standard Chartered plans to pivot to other impactful areas, such as financial inclusion, climate literacy, and green jobs.<\/p>\n

Rughani assured continued support for Goal alumni through partnerships like that with BRAC, ensuring the momentum for change continues.<\/p>\n
