Africa-Press – Uganda. <\/strong><\/span>Kazo District has made a significant stride in enhancing the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) by distributing 114 tablets and power banks to parish chiefs, town agents, and Parish Development Model SACCO (PDM SACCO) chairpersons.<\/b><\/p>\n

The handover ceremony, held at the Kazo District headquarters, marked a key development in improving data collection and service delivery under the PDM initiative.<\/p>\n

Badru Mayanja Majwala, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), emphasized the importance of the initiative and expressed gratitude to President Museveni for launching the PDM.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis program is a game-changer for our communities. I urge all government officials to diligently perform their duties to achieve the goals of the Parish Development Model. Let us also ensure the tablets are well-maintained to support the success of this mission,\u201d said Mr Mayanja.<\/p>\n

To further improve efficiency, the CAO announced the reassignment of several parish chiefs to different parishes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis realignment is aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring that every parish benefits from the program,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

John Baptist Asiimwe, the District Agricultural Officer and PDM Focal Person, urged parish chiefs to actively monitor the distribution and use of government funds in their areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese tablets are not just tools for data collection; they are essential for tracking progress and ensuring transparency in fund allocation. Let us use them effectively to transform our communities,\u201d Mr. Asiimwe said.<\/p>\n

In closing, Bazirio Paddy Mugisha, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), issued a strong warning against the misuse of government programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not tolerate corruption or any form of malpractice. Those who misuse these tools or funds will face the full force of the law,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The distribution of tablets is set to enhance PDM performance by enabling real-time monitoring and supervision by parish chiefs, community development officers, district IT officers, statisticians, and PDM SACCO chairpersons.<\/p>\n

Launched by President Museveni in February 2022, the PDM aims to transform 17 million Ugandans across 3.5 million households from subsistence to a money economy.<\/p>\n

Funds are deposited directly into SACCO accounts in each parish, enabling households to borrow and invest in income-generating activities.<\/p>\n

Kazo District\u2019s commitment to the PDM reflects the government\u2019s dedication to community upliftment and sustainable development, with officials hopeful that these new tools will help achieve the program\u2019s ambitious objectives.<\/p>\n
